Abstract

Surface mining equipment selection techniques which appeared on the literature are reviewed. Techniques are classified as Classical, Operations Research and Artificial Intelligent techniques. Among Operational Research techniques, most employed methods are Linear Programming and Integer Programming, Simulation and Queuing theory. Artificial Intelligent methods have been recently becoming very popular and Expert System-Knowledge Based Decision System and Genetic Algorithms techniques have been applied to mining equipment selection frequently.
