Abstract

In this study, a new approach for Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping (FCM) is proposed by using Interval-Valued Hesitant Fuzzy Numbers (IVH-FCM). This new approach provides a stronger tool to deal with uncertainty in the system by enabling the experts to be more flexible during their judgments. Instead of indicating exact values for the membership degrees of causal relationships, they provide possible interval values. The root causes of human errors in shipping accidents are analyzed by using IVH-FCM to examine the contribution of the approach to the real life problems.
