Asst. Prof. Barış Başpınar

Biography

Barış Başpınar received the B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering and control & automation engineering, the M.S. degree in aerospace engineering, and Ph.D. degree in aerospace engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2013, 2015, and 2020, respectively.

He was a Visiting Researcher with the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, from 2018 to 2019. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, ITU. His current research interests include data-driven ATM network modelling, high-level autonomy in air traffic control systems, resiliency problem in large scale complex systems, conflict detection and separation assurance algorithms, air traffic complexity, network theory, survivability analysis for complex air-to-ground missions, air-to-air combat autonomy, optimization-based control of multi-aircraft systems, reinforcement learning, guidance navigation and control problems in aerial vehicles.
