Biyografi

Dr. Yasir Bashir is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geophysical Engineering, Faculty of Mines, İstanbul Technical University, İstanbul, Türkiye. He earned his Ph.D. in Petroleum Geosciences from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, Master’s in Geophysics and Computer Science from Quaid-e-Azam University, and the University of Baluchistan, Pakistan respectively. He worked for 3 years as a Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor at USM, 4.5 years as a Research Scientist and 2 years as a Graduate Research Assistant at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, and 1 year with OGDCL, Pakistan as Geophysicist. The technical background encompasses the development of algorithms, specifically in the areas of machine learning for seismic data processing, imaging, and the workflow development for seismic inversion and prospect evaluation. This experience also includes practical application and hands-on practice. He actively contributed both as team member and a leader in various research projects conducted by PETRONAS, Hitachi, UTP, and OGDCL. These projects consisted of a range of areas including seismic anisotropy imaging, seismic computing research, pre-image processing and diffraction imaging, as well as PSTM, PSDM, and QI techniques. Research outcomes have recognized and presented in international conferences (SEG, EAGE, OTC, IPTC, and APGCE) and international Journal publications. Problem solver with strengths in workflow development and quality control. Effective leadership skills in mixed-gender and multi-ethnic groups. He is a member of SEG, EAGE, PGN, GSM, and PAPG.
