Born in Aydın in 1979, Assoc. Dr. Ahmet Özgür DOĞRU completed his undergraduate and graduate education at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Geomatics Engineering. He was awarded the title of doctor in 2009 and associate professor in 2019, and has been working in education, training and research activities at ITU Geomatics Engineering Department since 2001.
Between 2006 and 2009, he lived in Belgium for 6 months to conduct research at the Department of Geography at the University of Ghent, and lived in Paris for 1 year to complete his doctoral studies at the French National Institute of Geography and Forestry Information (IGN) COGIT Laboratory.
Özgür Doğru, who assumed the presidency of the Association of Spatial Informatics Initiative for the 2020-2022 term, is also an active member of the Chamber of Mapping and Cadaster Engineers affiliated to TMMOB. In addition, in March 2021, he was among the founding members of the Rotary 2420th District themed club, Voice for Education Rotary Club.
As a result of the research studies he has carried out or contributed throughout his education and professional life, 32 international and 13 national articles, 25 of which are in SCI indexed journals, 2 international book chapters and more than 80 national and international conference papers have been published. In the same period, he worked as a coordinator, researcher or consultant in approximately 30 national and international research projects.
Özgür Doğru, who likes to travel, tastes different flavors and is keen on innovative ideas combining science and art, is single and has a cat named Oscar.
