General Information


Bilge Tutak (PhD, Istanbul Technical University), obtained his PhD in Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering from University of Florida, USA in 2010. He was a NOAA Research Scholar for 3 years of his PhD studies while leading a project on the Effects of Hurricanes on the Local Estuarine Circulation. He worked as a senior researcher at the Marine and Inland Waters Group of Environment and Cleaner Production Institute at TUBITAK Marmara Research Center between 2011 and 2014. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Istanbul Technical University Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering Department.  His research interests include coastal-ocean modeling, climate change effects on ecosystem dynamics, wave-ocean coupled modeling, high performance computing, observational systems and operational oceanography. He has been involved in many national and international projects in the MRC, including FP7 projects. He worked as researcher on many projects relating to the European Union Water Framework and Marine Strategy Framework Directives. He was the principle investigator in Integrated Monitoring of Marmara Sea and Turkish Strait System in 2011. He recently concluded a project on Oceanography and Modeling of a Proposed Nuclear Power Plant In Sinop (Black Sea) and he is currently co-PI of a project related to the Climate Change Effects on the Black Sea Ecosystem
